How to scan receipts to PDF on Android

Save your receipt scans, select them in the gallery and tap Export PDF (Portable Document Format). Receipt Camera puts them in one file, with one photo on each page. Your original photos stay in the gallery. The app works without internet or an account.

How to make one PDF from your receipts

  1. Capture and save each receipt. Take one photo per page. Check that the whole receipt is included, then tap Save. Repeat for the other receipts.
  2. Open Gallery and select your scans. Press and hold the Capture button, then tap Gallery. Press and hold a small photo to select it. Tap any other photos you want to include.
  3. Tap Export PDF. Tap the PDF button at the top of the gallery. Check the page order. Start with Standard for the file size. If the file is too large to send, try Smaller and check that the writing is still readable.
  4. Share the file and check the result. Tap Share and choose the app you want to use. Open the PDF there and check that the pages are in order and the writing is readable.

Choose between a receipt photo and a PDF

What you need What to do
One receipt image to keep or send Save or share the photo.
Several scans in one attachment Select the saved scans and export one multi-page PDF.
A smaller attachment Try Smaller or Standard on the export screen, then check that the print is still readable.
Small writing needs more detail Try Full, then check that you can read the writing. The file will usually be larger.

What happens to the PDF after export?

Tap Share and choose the app you want to use. To keep the PDF, choose an app that can save it. Making a PDF does not add it to your photo album. Your original receipt photos stay in the gallery.

Receipt Camera does not need internet to create the PDF. When you share it, the app you choose handles sending the file and any internet connection it needs. Receipt Camera does not send the file to us.

What the PDF contains

Each saved photo becomes one page in the PDF. The app does not read the words, add up amounts or join photos into one long image. It also cannot combine PDF files you already have.

If you are sending receipts to someone else, check which file type they accept. A PDF contains copies of the receipts, not an expense report.

Questions

Does export delete my receipt photos?

No. The PDF is built from your saved scans. Export does not replace or delete those photos.

Can I search the printed words in the PDF?

No. The PDF contains photos of your receipts. It does not turn the writing into text you can search or copy.
